Product Information
Operation:
- The NEFA NRI valve performs two functions; an isolation valve and a non-return valve.
- The isolation valve is fully open in the normal operating position.
- When isolation is required the NRI’s spindle is screwed down, bringing the washer into contact with the valve seat to shut off the flow.
- When water flows in the normal direction, the jumper valve is pushed off the valve seat, allowing water flow.
- When flow stops, the spring pushes the jumper back on to the valve seat.
- When back flow pressure forces the washer against the valve seat, it creates a seal and thus prevents back flow.
Installation:
- NEFA valves should always be installed by a licensed plumber in accordance with National Plumbing and Drainage Code AS/NZ3500.4.
- The installation must also comply with any Local Authority requirements and the water heater manufacturer’s requirements.
- It is suitable for horizontal or vertical installation.
- Install with the direction of flow inline with the arrow on the valve body.
- Installation at the inlet to a hot water cylinder is the minimum requirement for AS/NZS 3500.5
- It must be installed where it can be easily accessed.
- Ensure that sealing materials, e.g. thread tape or thread sealing paste, do not intrude into flow passages as this could cause obstruction to flow and failure of the valve.
- The NRI must not be installed in the ground or in a situation where it could be subject to freezing.
- Never expose the NRI to a torch-flame or heat. Heat will destroy the seals and sealing parts.
